We are now only a week away from our first Durham Adventure Festival, and as the weeks have gone by since we first started planning the event, it’s amazing how you start to notice adventure everywhere.
It becomes impossible to look at the evening’s TV listings without spotting that documentary on Everest that looks interesting. Or your ears prick up when someone mentions the bike ride they did at the weekend, or how they must get a new waterproof jacket.
It been great to be contacted by people to say how they have been looking out for an event like this for years. It’s also been a joy for the team pulling the event together, weaving all of the strands (speakers, films, food, drink, sponsors, clothing) together into something we hope you will enjoy.
It’s even been a revelation to hear yourself say those things you never thought you would say…
Can we fit a teepee in Gala’s foyer?, could we get one of the speakers to cycle to the event from Scotland and blog about his journey?, is it possible to create seating out of old pallets?, what time are the trees arriving?, can you really get sleeping bags for dogs?
It’s all been part of the adventure so far, and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you…
